Specially Denatured Alcohol Formula (SDA 40B) provides versatility for industrial and scientific use. Manufacturers add chemicals making the ethanol unsafe for consumption while staying safe for manufacturing. Amazingly, this clear, colorless liquid is a mixture of ethanol and denaturing agents, making it ideal for various applications in labs, industrial settings, and as a fuel additive.
Moreover, manufacturers find SDA 40B essential in producing cosmetics and personal care products. Therefore, it's widely used as a solvent for perfumes, colognes, and hair sprays. SDA40B earned the nickname of perfumer's alcohol due its popularity in perfumes and colognes. Further, it effectively carries active ingredients in skincare products, such as lotions and creams.
Another essential use includes the production of inks. In addition, its solvency properties make it an excellent choice for dissolving and dispersing pigments, resins, and other ink components. Further, it's also used to manufacture adhesives and coatings, acting as a solvent for the adhesive or coating components.
Please note, this blend safe for industrial and scientific use, but it's not intended for human consumption. As such, the denaturing agents added to the alcohol make it unsafe for drinking and, therefore, should only be used for its intended purposes.
You must comply with all Alcohol & Tobacco Tax Trade Bureau (TTB), federal, state, and local laws. Simple Solvents may require a copy of state or federal licenses / permits, even when buying products that require a federal excise tax payment.
As per the TTB regulation § 21.76 Formula No. 40-B: To every 100 gallons of alcohol add 1/16th ounce of denatonium benzoate, N.F., and 1⁄8 gallon of tert-butyl alcohol.
